San Francisco Engagement Session: Robert and Vicky

Meet Robert and Vicky! I met up with them Halloween day after several reschedules due to rain. This day was meant to be because we couldn't have asked for nicer weather. We started our session at the Presidio and after touring the location for a bit (a.k.a. getting lost) we made our way over to Baker Beach.

Robert and Vicky were so cute and into each other, we had a ball laughing at the interesting sights at the beach, lol! This Harley lovin' couple was so fun to shoot, I look forward to the wedding day! Here are some of my favorite photos from our session:

This 11 year old cutie pie needed to add to his modeling portfolio so his mom contacted me for a quick shoot. We all met and had a fun shoot at a local park. I saw so many kid clothing ad campaigns while shooting Omari!! :) Omari and his mom were a lot of fun and he was sooo easy to photograph!

Meet Leon. His parents contacted me a few weeks ago and we set up this session to add some shots to his modeling portfolio. Well, his session was fun and extremely easy---usually the fellas gotta warm up to the whole picture taking thing. I didn't really need to direct him at all. His laidback demeanor worked well as I dragged him all around to get the shots. Not one complaint! I see his future modeling career will go quite smoothly.

Picture this....days before your wedding, you get a cancellation call from your photographer...what do you do? Well Terrance and Tatiana called me. Now, we are saying "Welcome Back Tatiana" to the Photography by Stacie blog with a set of pictures that I can't help but get all choked up about. Meet these lovebirds: Karen and Jeff. This sweet couple flew all the way here from their home in Florida to celebrate their fabulous 40th birthday with all their close friends--many from their high school years here in the bay area. This Hollywood Red Carpet event was put together by BOFA events located here in the bay area, and was held at Lake Chalet in Oakland, CA. This definitely turned out to be a memorable and fun party for the couple's shared birthday. Happy Birthday Karen and Jeff!

Welcome the lovely Tameika back to my blog. She contacted me last year to let me know that she was expecting a bundle of joy and to top it off---A Girl!! She was planning a nice baby shower to celebrate the coming of her 2nd child and wanted me to capture this day. It was a beautiful location and many of her friends and family were there showing their love and support. I'm starting to feel like I'm part of the family now having photographed Tameika and her aunt's birthday parties in the past couple of years. Family members were coming up and giving me hugs :).

I get asked all the time from potential clients what a proof book is. Since I'm a very visual person I think pictures will explain it best :). Everyone loves these.

These books are soft covers and act as an index to all the images from your big day. I provide these (for the engagement and wedding) with my wedding packages.

Meet Charlotte. She was the beautiful addition to the oh so cute Santiago family. This little angel was such a good baby, that even I held her and she just drooled happily on my arm. I think daddy is going to have some trouble from boys :).

Meet Jonah. This cutie pie was the new addition (and boy #3) to the Jasper family. He enjoyed being in his mommy's arms and was such a gentle baby. I think the only wimper I heard was because he was hungry..lol.

Meet Mr. Riley. This cutie pie (a new addition to the Jones family and also boy #3), was much younger when I saw him last--but NOW 1 is around the corner and he loves the camera. I had a ball with Riley, he is such the flirt and a handsome little fella who enjoys hide and seek and crawling really fast toward me.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Modeste. I enjoyed their wedding immensly at the Meritage Resort in Napa. Having previously been there for a work retreat I was excited to find out that Owen and Tya were getting married at this beautiful place. The scenery, the family, the friends and the love all made this day very special for this couple. Tya was such a beautiful bride (in a dress that had to be made for her) and Owen was a handsom man in his white tux. This couple looked gorgeous together. I'm thankful to them both for allowing me to share this special day in their lives. I see many, many years of happiness (and laughs) in the future for them.

An Intro to an Engagement Session…

Your engagement session is approaching. Here are few tips to get ready to make the most of your day.

1. Location: Choose a location that represents you as a couple. If you hate sand and water, then the beach would not be ideal. We can visit multiple places if they are within a 5 mile radius of the original location.

2. Wardrobe: I always get asked: “What should we wear?” I say “Wear what you feel good in”. Although, I don’t mean sweats and flip flops! Avoid fabrics that become “wrinkly” easily, such as linen. Try not to wear clothing with patterns or colors that are too busy or light colored bottoms (sitting in grass or on rocks will cause stains). As you are planning your wardrobe, consider clothing that compliments what you both are wearing. Denim, soft colors, and neutrals (black, brown, etc.) always work. Also, keep in mind the location(s) of the session. If we are hiking through a forest, you may not want to wear a dress and heels or a suit and dress shoes. If in doubt, bring a backup outfit. Plan to carry light items, so keep the purse/bag, cell phones in the car. I can carry other small items, such as keys or chapstick, in my bag.

3. Appearance: ALWAYS bring lipgloss/chapstick, lotion, mirror, small comb/brush. I will be doing close ups so it’s best to be prepared if skin gets dry or hair gets misplaced. Also, get some rest. I want to go everywhere in our selected location so be ready to walk, most people end up tired after our session so be sure you are well rested.

4. Be prepared to have fun. This session is for you. Nothing is too goofy or mushy. I want you to have pictures that make you smile for years to come.

Meet this oh, so cute couple: Rashad and Nicka. I know Nicka through a department we both used to work in some time back. A mutual friend mentioned my photography business and now they have become "one of my upcoming wedding couples". We got together this past January to do this fun engagement session and I have to say the happiness shown between these two is contagious. I find myself still smiling.

We had a great time in the city and it amazes me how blessed I am to get such great couples who are up for anything. Including, me dragging them around the Piers and Fisherman's Wharf.

Their big day is September 26th, send them many blessings!!!

A Prince for a Princess...

Meet Kevin and Elizabeth. This fun couple was married December 19th at the Main Post Chapel in SF. I met Elizabeth over the summer to discuss her wedding and we ended up talking for hours. She is such a sweetheart and I see why Kevin loves her so. The celebration was a beautiful way for this cute couple to celebrate the coming of the holidays.

I love doing vow renewals and reporting them here. It provides such a positive outlook on marriage to all couples. Meet this lovely couple- Randy and Tonette. They celebrated their 10 year anniversary by renewing their vows with friends and family on October 25th. I was so impressed with their fun and loving relationship--they truly have fun (visit my wedding website to see what they did right before the "kiss the bride"!) and are truly in love. FYI- I TRY not to cry at weddings, but I will admit to welling up at this one :-).

Destination Paradise--Edwin and Sherry

Warm weather. Luxury resort. Beautiful beaches. Meet Edwin and Sherry. These lovebirds decided to tie the knot at the beautiful Waikiki Moana Surfrider hotel in Honolulu. I was very thankful that they decided to go with me to photograph their special day--of course to go to Hawaii :) but also to share this special day with one of my close buddies, Sherry.

We started this special weekend with a quick engagement session around the hotel.

Then came the big day..

Edwin was such a handsome groom and Sherry was a beautiful bride.

There were smiles everywhere.

Glitz and Glamour 30th Bday Celebration

In early October I photographed a 30th birthday celebration for two Glamourous young ladies--Tamieka and Kizzy. Like all true Hollywood types they made their entrances in high style down the red carpet for everyone to admire and see. Jaws were dropped and cheers were abundant.

Of course like any true red carpet event you have to pose for the paparazzi (me) :-).

Baby J Shower!!

After a great weekend photographing this loving couple, the following weekend I joined them again to photograph their baby shower. We celebrated the coming of Baby Boy Johnson with all the Johnson's family and friends and based on the HUGE turn out.... their new bundle will be loved and spoiled with gifts.

On July 26th, Adrienne and her many friends partied hard to celebrate her coming of age. At 35, Adrienne partied like she was a fresh 21 and she looked good doing it.

The theme of the party was to celebrate the 70's in all its glory (and I have to agree being born in the 70's myself). Like a true glamour girl, there was a brief clothing change to continue the night in style.
Like any true party, the company of good friends, continuous good music, and a plethora of the finest in liquor the party continued into the night and on the dance floor.

It was a great party and Adrienne truly enjoyed herself..the smiles throughout the night proved it. Happy Birthday Adrienne! Will see you on your next big day!!!

I received an email as a referral from a couple who knows a previous couple I photographed. Meet George and Monique! These adorable lovebirds live on opposite sides of the US but you couldn't tell by the way they interact. They have fun...and I had fun photographing them. We talked and talked..but we also took pictures. They were game for anything (even walking in the COLD water)...and they also had their own ideas. They are getting married in Southern California and I'm sure she will be a beautiful bride and he will be a handsome groom!! Congratulations George and Monique.

When Sean opened the door with this little angel in his hands, I almost had a heart attack. Such a beauty this baby is. I've been lucky with the babies I've photographed...none cry in my presence "-). With Sydney, this session was no different...I did get a few looks of "yeah right" but no cries or wimpers. Sydney was such a doll and quite easy to photograph.

Llanes 25 Year Anniversary Party

On February 17 I had the pleasure of photographing Victor and Cynthia Llanes for their 25th Anniversary party. They celebrated at the beautiful Hotel Valencia at Santana Row in San Jose, CA. The hotel decor and ambiance was romantic and relaxing. The scene definitely fit the laid back personalities of the couple.

BLING! BLING! After 25 years of marriage you should only receive nothing but the best in jewelry.

I had the honor of photographing a retirement party for one of our local San Mateo firefighters-Mark Greene. It was part gooodbye and part celebration of all his accomplishments and heroism over the years.
